Flap, forage, and see pigeons as you’ve never seen them before!
We’re thrilled to share that Planet Pigeon, our latest collaboration with Minecraft Education and PBS Nature, has officially taken flight on Minecraft Education. Inspired by PBS Nature’s documentary The Pigeon Hustle, this new adventure lets players step into the surprisingly dramatic world of one of the planet’s most familiar and misunderstood animals: the humble pigeon.

Across cities, cliffs, rooftops, and coops, pigeons have lived alongside humans for thousands of years. Now, for the first time, players can experience their world up close: how they navigate bustling streets, raise their chicks, find food, avoid predators, and use their remarkable senses to map the world around them.
To learn more about Planet Pigeon, including the documentary that inspired it, visit the PBS Nature announcement page here.
In true CrackedCubes fashion, Planet Pigeon mixes real science with playful design. You’ll explore evolving environments, solve ecological challenges, and take part in a series of hands-on mini-games inspired by real pigeon behaviours. Learn how pigeons use landmarks to find home, test your reaction times against a hungry hawk, or race across the sky with one of the fastest birds on earth. Each activity blends learning with humour – and every mission reveals a small secret about the birds we think we know so well.
The experience also includes a guided narrative from PBS Nature, bringing the documentary’s storytelling into Minecraft. Whether you’re discovering why pigeons bob their heads, how flocks communicate, or what makes a perfect nest, the world is packed with details drawn straight from expert naturalists and urban ecologists. The goal is simple: help players see pigeons not just as city birds, but as uniquely adapted, deeply intelligent survivors that have interacted with humans throughout history, from saving human lives in war time (yes, really), to stealing your sandwich in the park.

Planet Pigeon is available for players of all ages and abilities, with clear instructions, gentle pacing, and plenty of space for curiosity. Educators can use the experience to spark discussions about adaptation, urban ecosystems, animal behaviour, and conservation. For groups, it’s a chance to explore nature’s hidden stories together. And for solo adventurers… well, it’s an excellent excuse to flap around and cause a little controlled chaos.
